The gymnasium is sized to allow for a full-size basketball court with approximately 15’ of space along one side for spectators, or two full size volleyball courts. A few details to note include:
- The gym ceiling height of 22’ is comparable to premier high school gymnasium design.
- Walls to be completed with painted wood panels to a height of 12’, and metal wall cladding from the top of the wood panels to the full ceiling height.
- The ceiling to be completed with perforated metal
- Gym flooring to be completed with vinyl Marmoleum Sport flooring
- Other finishes will include line painting (for volleyball, basketball and badminton courts), basketball nets, and volleyball nets.
The new facility will include male and female bathroom/change rooms. These bathroom/change rooms have been designed to support the following functions within this facility:
- Bathroom facilities to support classrooms with up to 40-50 students
- Physical education classes, with the option of showers for students following class
- Sport practices and sporting events including community evening activities
- Group events including catered events of up to 250 people
The washroom/change rooms will have the following fixtures & features:
- Change Rooms (Male & Female)
- 2 showers and open area for changing, clothing/bag hooks
- Entry to the gym, with second lockable access to the bathroom area. This will allow for use of the change rooms by either males or females for all-boys or all-girls sporting events.
- Male Washroom
- 3 toilet stalls (including a barrier free stall), 2 urinals, 3 sinks
- Female Washroom
- 2 showers, 5 toilet stalls (including a barrier free stall), 3 sinks
- Staff Washroom (Barrier Free)
- 1 shower, 1 toilet and 1 sink
